Schedule: Monday–Friday, shift varies based on clinical needs
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist to provide diagnostic imaging services at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. The CT Technologist will perform a wide range of CT procedures and support radiologists in delivering accurate diagnostic imaging for veteran patients.
The technologist will operate CT imaging equipment, ensure image quality, maintain patient safety standards, and follow all VA clinical protocols and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Perform CT imaging procedures including contrast and non-contrast examinations.
Prepare and position patients for CT procedures and explain procedures to ensure patient understanding and comfort.
Operate CT imaging equipment and adjust technical parameters to produce diagnostic-quality images.
Administer contrast materials in accordance with safety protocols.
Monitor patients during procedures and report any adverse reactions or abnormalities.
Perform quality control checks on CT equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Upload and manage imaging studies in the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
Document procedures and patient information in the VA electronic health record system.
Follow radiation safety procedures and adhere to ALARA principles.
Assist radiologists during interventional procedures when required.
Required Qualifications
Certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (RT) and Computed Tomography (CT).
Minimum 3 years of clinical CT experience.
Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and CT imaging techniques.
Experience performing CT procedures including:
Head, neck, chest, abdomen, and pelvic scans
Spine imaging
CT angiography
CT-guided procedures
Familiarity with PACS and digital imaging systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with multi-slice CT scanners (including 128-slice scanners).
Experience with CT-guided procedures such as biopsies or drainages.
Experience performing cardiac CT or advanced imaging procedures.
Requirements
Active, unrestricted license/certification in the United States.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Ability to pass VA credentialing and background investigation requirements.
Completion of VA mandatory training and health screenings.
Work Environment
Work performed onsite at a federal medical facility serving veterans.
Occasional on-call or after-hours coverage may be required based on clinical needs.
