Seeking CT Technologist to provide services to eligible beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Iowa City (hereinafter referred to Iowa City VAMC).  

  • Start Date: Immediate pending clearance by the VA Medical Center
  • Duration: 3 to 9 months
  • Shifts:
    • Day Shift -Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm (one hour unpaid lunch). No services required on holidays unless on call.
    • On call (in rotation with other CT Techs) - one to two weeknights per week and one weekend per month.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting the orders provided by the physician or other prescribing medical professional.
  • Explaining what will happen during the CT scan to patients.
  • Positioning patients properly to take the necessary images.
  • Administering IVs that contain contrast dyes to enhance imaging.
  • Examining images to ensure they are usable.
  • Updating patient medical information
  • Cleaning and maintaining CT scan equipment.
  • Keeping inventory of CT scan supplies and making orders for supply restocks as required.

Qualifications:

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiological Technology program or equivalent.
  • Must have a current (ARRT) (CT) - certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Active BLS Certification
  • Proven experience working as a CT technologist.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Provide proof of Health Record as required.

Employee Pay Structure:

  • Base Pay: $45.59 + $5.09 health and welfare stipend, up to 40 hours a week (Taxable)
  • Per Diem: $29.18 per hour Non- Taxable/Stipend (50 miles or more)
  • On-call (Beeper) Rate: $5hr
  • Call-back/Response Rate: 1.5x base pay 
  • Sick Leave (up to 7days in a year)
  • Paid federal holidays.
