Position Summary
The Program Manager leads and coordinates a multidisciplinary team of subject matter experts (SMEs) to advance the planning, execution, and evaluation of programs within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This position serves as the primary liaison between executive leadership and SME staff, ensuring project alignment with VA objectives, compliance with regulations, and delivery of consistently high-quality results.

The Program Manager leads and coordinates a multidisciplinary team of subject matter experts (SMEs) to advance the planning, execution, and evaluation of programs within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This position serves as the primary liaison between executive leadership and SME staff, ensuring project alignment with VA objectives, compliance with regulations, and delivery of consistently high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee supervision, and development of SMEs in specialized health, data, or administrative domains.
- Plan, implement, and monitor complex VA programs and initiatives, ensuring timely achievement of objectives and adherence to established milestones.
- Assign work, clarify project priorities, and ensure high standards of professional performance among SME teams.
- Facilitate collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation across SME disciplines to address organizational needs and emerging challenges.
- Report on program progress, challenges, and outcomes to VA leadership; develop policies, protocols, and compliance documentation as needed.
- Coordinate resources, budgets, and schedules for assigned projects and initiatives.
- Resolve conflicts, provide coaching, and foster professional growth among team members.
- Ensure all program activities comply with federal regulations and VA standards for quality, efficiency, and ethics.
- Advanced degree (Master’s preferred) in a field relevant to program management or the SME discipline (e.g., Health Administration, Data Analytics, Information Technology, Public Health).
- Minimum of 7 years progressive experience in program or project management, preferably in a complex healthcare or government setting.
- Demonstrated leadership over multidisciplinary or technical teams.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Experience with budgeting, resource management, and project evaluation.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and advance multiple projects simultaneously.
