Overview
We are seeking a Board-Certified Hematology/Oncology Physician to provide comprehensive patient care services at the New Mexico VA Health Care System in Albuquerque. This role includes outpatient clinic care, inpatient consultation services, and on-call coverage supporting the veteran population.

Key Responsibilities
Provide hematology and oncology care to veteran patients in outpatient clinics and inpatient settings.
Conduct patient evaluations including full history, physical exams, and diagnostic testing.
Perform procedures including:
Bone marrow biopsies and aspirations
Lumbar punctures
Venous and arterial punctures
Manage patient treatment plans including chemotherapy monitoring and follow-up care.
Participate in tumor board meetings, peer reviews, and quality improvement activities.
Provide consultation services to other departments including ER, ICU, and general medicine wards.
Document patient care in the VA Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Schedule
Clinic Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
On-Call Coverage:
Weeknights: 4:30 PM – 8:00 AM
Weekends and holidays: 24-hour coverage
Approximate clinic schedule includes new patient and follow-up appointments daily.
Qualifications
Required:
Board Certified in Hematology and Medical Oncology (ABIM)
Active unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state
Current BLS and ACLS certification
Valid DEA registration
Ability to obtain VA credentialing and privileging
Preferred:
Experience working in hospital or integrated healthcare systems
Experience supervising trainees or medical residents
Familiarity with VA or federal healthcare environments
