General Surgery Physician
Position Overview
We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible General Surgeon to provide onsite surgical and clinical services at the Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. This role supports Veterans through high-quality surgical care in a federal medical facility under a VA contract.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical (≈80%)
Provide comprehensive General Surgery services in clinic and operating room settings
Perform scheduled surgical procedures during standard OR hours
Conduct patient evaluations, consultations, procedures, and follow-ups
Document care in the VA electronic health record (EHR)
Communicate test results and treatment plans in accordance with VA policies
Provide discharge education and coordinate follow-up care
Administrative (≈20%)
Participate in Quality Improvement, Morbidity & Mortality, and staff meetings
Complete required QA/QI and patient safety documentation
Comply with VA clinical performance monitoring and reporting requirements
Required Qualifications
MD or DO from an accredited medical school
Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery (American Board of Surgery)
Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license (any state)
BLS and ACLS certification (current)
Eligible for VA credentialing and privileging
Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
Additional Requirements
Ability to obtain and maintain VA credentials and privileges
Completion of VA mandatory training (patient safety, privacy, EHR, etc.)
Compliance with immunization, TB testing, and infection control standards
Active DEA registration and NPI number
Must not be excluded from federal healthcare programs

No call coverage required unless otherwise specified
Federal holidays observed
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
